With the weather warming up and Spring finally upon us, there’s nothing better than enjoying a fresh brewed coffee while enjoying the neighborhood sights and sounds. Luckily for us, South Boston, Seaport and South End all offer unique and cozy coffeehouses where you can experience the authentic feel of the city, just minutes from PORT45.
Below are just a few of our favorites.
PS Gourmet Coffee. Located at the end of West Broadway on Dorchester Street, PS Gourmet Coffee offers more than 100 flavors of coffee, as well as house-baked pastries, iced drinks and breakfast sandwiches. They are open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Broadway's Pastry & Coffee Shop. Another fun and tasty South Boston coffee shop, Broadway's Pastry is located on West Broadway, in the heart of the neighborhood's retail and dining district. The menu here features European-style pastries and imported Guglielmo coffee. The relaxed decor includes distressed brick walls and cozy banquettes. Broadway's Pastry & Coffee Shop is open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Flour Bakery. Located on Farnsworth Street, Flour Bakery’s Fort Point location brings you the coffee, sweet treats, and savory snacks you crave. The menu ranges from traditional pastries to specialties crafted for any occasion. If you come with an appetite, Flour Bakery has savory sandwiches and weekly take-home dinner specials prepared to any taste. Flour Bakery’s Fort Point Location is open 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
Brew Cafe. Another popular Seaport coffee shop is Brew. Located in District Hall near the Institute of Contemporary Art, Brew offers freshly made breakfast sandwiches, pizzas, lunch sandwiches, coffee drinks and smoothies. The atmosphere is light and airy, designed to inspire creativity. Brew is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Blackbird Doughnuts. This South End doughnut shop features delicious gourmet doughnuts, made from scratch. They are something of a Boston institution. They also offer a full menu of coffee drinks to accompany your sweet treats. Blackbird Doughnuts is open on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on weekends from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
South End Buttery. Located in the heart of Boston's South End, South End Buttery offers an array of fresh options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – just make sure to leave room for a taste of the café’s widely loved coffee, tea, and espresso drinks. The Buttery’s café is open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. with full restaurant hours being 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The Buttery is also a neighborhood favorite for brunch, make sure to stop in on weekends from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
